Clean sweep of the Lavender Route

Written by Foxglove Wheelers at 11:38 26/8-2015

Foxglove Wheelers had the race under control as Lavender Route looked to be terminated in a tough sprint but the other teams fell away in the final kilometre which allowed the lead out train to roll over the line in 2nd & 3rd behind stage winner Maarten Hanekamp.

The supporting riders of Maarten Hanekamp made the job easy for him, and he managed to claim the victory safely and he obviously wasn't threatened by his team mates, Einar Gran, second, and Vladan Stojkovi?, third.

"I'm very happy for my win today. It means a lot to me, said Maarten Hanekamp and continued: I couldn't have done this without my team. I can't thank them enough."

Tarquin Foxglove, manager of Foxglove Wheelers, was happy with the result: "The whole team did well today. The team executed the race plan to perfection & the effort put in by the team in the final run in was something else. The other teams couldn't live with it, nor remain in our slipstream. Awesome. Maarten Hanekamp was the strongest rider out there today but didn't have to show it as the team did the work for him."

The proud manager didn't hide that he was satisfied with the team's 1-2-3 result. "Maarten Hanekamp did well. No one deserved the victory more than him. He put his focus on this stage long ago, and he kept his motivation high. I'm happy for him but I am more proud for the team, this is a result of all the training they've done & gives the team some cash to train them some more ready to try & compete at a higher level." said Tarquin Foxglove.
